Frieda Terhoch, née Humberg, (1889 – 1957) and Adolf Terhoch (1884 – 1953)

Frieda was the youngest daughter in the family. She had already left her parents’ home by 1910 and was living with her widowed aunt, Sophie Gottschalk, in Ramsdorf, where she was a champion markswoman in 1919. She married the merchant, Adolf Terhoch from Drensteinfurt. They took over the Gottschalk family’s livestock business together. The twins, Kurt and Rudi, were born in 1921. Following the example of her mother, Frieda later opened a draper’s shop, specialising in trousseau linen. The family found refuge from the National Socialists in Winnipeg, Canada, in 1939.
