Kurt and Rudi Terhoch

Kurt (1921 – 2006) and Rudi  TerhocH (1921 – 2008)

When the recording was made, Frieda and Adolf Terhoch’s twins were 11 years old. They grew up in Ramsdorf together with their neighbours’ children and played football for the Catholic sports club, DJK. By 1931, they had both moved from the Ramsdorf primary school to the grammar school in Borken. After a couple of months, however, Rudi left grammar school in order to learn the cattle dealer’s profession from his uncle, Wilhelm, in Borken. In 1935, Kurt Terhoch was forbidden from further attendance at the Borken grammar school. He also began his apprenticeship with his uncle, Abraham Frank. Following the National Socialists’ accession to power, they emigrated with their parents, initially to the Netherlands and then to Winnipeg, Canada. There, Rudi and Kurt worked in the electrical industry.

In 2003, members of the Historical Society succeeded in making contact with the twins. They facilitated contact between the Dingden Historical Society and other members of the family, including Ernst and Hilde Humberg’s daughter, Ruth Muscovitch.
